To try the practical application of a novel storage medium holding device by executing the simplification and miniaturization of a rotation driving means and turning a rotation holder precisely by a prescribed angle.
The storage medium holding device includes the rotation holder 33 rotatably supported around a central shaft 32 and constituted so that two or more storage medium holding sections 40 which receive individual storage media from the front side to hold is formed for each the prescribed angle in a circumferential direction at the periphery of the central shaft, the rotation driving means which rotates the rotation holder around the central shaft by the prescribed angle, and a retaining means 57 which retains the rotation holder at a rotation stopping position each time when the rotation holder is rotated around the central shaft by the rotation driving means for each the prescribed angle. The retaining means is comprised of two or more recesses 54 which are formed on a peripheral surface of the rotation holder for each the prescribed angle in the circumferential direction, a locking member 55 which is arranged to touch the peripheral surface of the rotation holder corresponding to the recess and can engage with the recess, and an elastic member 56 which urges the locking member to touch the peripheral surface of the rotation holder.
