A purge stocker 1 includes a plurality of pod mounting portions 3a; an ID reader 16; a plurality of inventory sensors 20; and a controller 24. The plurality of pod mounting portions 3a are members for storing pods 2 with an ID 17 attached thereto. The ID reader 16 reads the ID 17 of each pod 2. The plurality of inventory sensors 20 are disposed on the individual pod mounting portions 3a. The controller 24 receives ID information from the ID reader 16, and inventory information from the inventory sensor 20, and manages the inventory information of the pods 2. The controller 24 receives the ID information of the pods 2 from the ID reader 16, and then relates the pod mounting portions 3a whose inventory is detected by the inventory sensor 20, with the read ID information, and stores them.
