PURPOSE: To keep the opened state of living bivalves and store the bivalves, by introducing the living bivalves into a packaging container, removing the air from the container, and adhering the container closely to the valves.

CONSTITUTION: A suitable number of living bivalves, e.g. a short-necked clam, clam or corbicula, are introduced into a bag consisting of a synthetic resin sheet, and air in the bag is then removed by a vacuum-packaging machine to form a vacuum state therein. The opening is then sealed, and the bivalves in the bag are stored in a refrigerated state at 10W5°C.
