To prevent looseness of a table when a stowable table mechanism to be stowed in the armrest of an automobile seat or a console box is in use.

The stowable table mechanism comprises a shaft 1 having a table base 7 at its upper end; an intermediate pipe 2 allowing the shaft 1 to be inserted therein; and a fixed pipe 3 allowing the intermediate pipe 2 to be inserted therein. Bushes 4 and 6 each made of resin are interposed respectively between the shaft 1 and the intermediate pipe 2 and between the intermediate pipe 2 and the fixed pipe 3.
