PURPOSE: To improve productivity by pulling both ends of a metal wire in the longitudinal direction by holding both ends and energizing between both ends of the metal wire and heating/softening the metal wire and certainly straightening the metal wire so as to prevent generation of a defective product.
CONSTITUTION: Both ends of a metal wire W are respectively held by holding means 11, 12, the metal wire W is pulled by a prescribed tension T while the holding means 12 is moved by a drive means 15, an electric current of a prescribed value is caused to flow into the metal wire W by a power unit 18. Thus, by energizing the metal wire W while maintaining a tension state, the strain generated in the inside of the metal wire W is gradually eliminated so as to be straightened. After a prescribed time elapses, energizing is stopped, at the same time the tension state is released and the metal wire W is left as it is until the temp. of metal wire W is lowered, and straightening of bends of the metal wire W is completed.
