Title:
STREAMLINED WING FOR SHIP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3306115
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the occurrence of cavitation by placing ribs on the outside of the receiving surface of fluid flow so that the exfoliation of a boundary layer may not be promoted.
CONSTITUTION: A device to reduce the occurrence of turbulence is comprised of a number of, preferably six, ribs R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 which are placed at fixed intervals in parallel to one another, and which are extended parallel to the center section in the longitudinal direction of a wing 1. The individual rib so projects as to form a free end outward from the other end in the longitudinal direction of the wing 1, and the length of the ribs is 1/10-20, preferably 1/15, of the longitudinal length of the wing 1 in the direction of its central axis A. The placement and formation of the ribs R1-R6 suppress the occurrence of cavitation.
