Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is H, OH or amino) and its salt.
USE: An antibacterial agent, carcinostatic agent and antivial agent. It inhibits the proliferation of Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria and has strong proliferation inhibiting action to the parent strain of mouse lymphoma cell L5718Y and adriamycin-resistant strain as well as inhibiting action to reverse transcriptase.
PREPARATION: The streptonigrin of formula II is made to react with a base (preferably ammonia) preferably in an aprotic polar solvent in the presence of an organic phosphine oxide.
