PURPOSE: To reduce and remove unnecessary generated force and moment at a low cost by bringing a cover for covering the outer surface of a force sensor into contact with the surface of a band plate to be detected, and displacing the band plate in the radial direction of a measuring roll main body in a void.
CONSTITUTION: A clearance gap 25 exists between the periphery of a cover 3 and the inner wall surface 10 of a void 2 of a measurement roll main body 4 extending over the whole periphery. A breakage or a trace is not given to the surface of a ban plate 8 running on a measuring roll main body 4 by the existance of the clearance gap 25. A force sensor 1 ius a piezoelectric crystal type sensor having opposite end faces 11, 12, fixed on a placing surface 13 by the end face 11, and the end face 12 is brought into fact contact with the inner end surface of the cover 3. A separately provided cover 3 on each force sensor 1 is guided and displaced in each void 2 by the operation of force from the band plate 8, and the force is transmitted to the force sensor 1 fixed in the void 2 as load working on both end faces of the surface and the back of the sensor 1, so that unnecessary force and moment are not transmitted to the sensor so as to improve the quality of the surface form of the band plate.
