To provide stretch spun yarn capable of producing a stretch woven or knitted fabric, and to provide the stretch woven or knitted fabric of high quality, together having stretchability and resilience which are main functional characteristics of synthetic fibers, while having natural, soft, and bulky feelings which are textures and feelings specific to natural fibers.
This stretch spun yarn comprises multilayer spun yarn composed of a sheath part in which short fibers including the natural fibers and/or cellulosic fibers are arranged and a core part in which the synthetic fibers are arranged, wherein two ply yarn composing the multilayer spun yarn is formed into coil-structured yarn having a double-helical structure in the longitudinal direction. Because the two ply yarn is formed into the coil-structured yarn having the double-helical structure, spaces are formed between two threads of single yarn, so that existence of the spaces deeply relates to the stretchability, the resilience, and the bulky feeling of the woven knitted fabric.
