Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stretchable woven fabric having a three-dimensional appearance similar to that of denim and having the feel and touch of a knitted fabric; and to provide a method for manufacturing the stretchable woven fabric.SOLUTION: A woven fabric includes weft yarns 3 and warp yarns 2, 2FS and 2BS. The weft yarns are extended on the upper and lower sides of the warp yarns and include upper portions 5 and lower portions 4 and 4' with respect to the warp yarns. Thus, the ratio of a lower portion length to an upper portion length is set such that the warp yarns 2BS corresponding to the upper portions are in a position lower than the plane of the warp yarns 2FS corresponding to the lower portions in the washed woven fabric. After washing, the final woven fabric has an elongation of at least 30% as measured according to ASTM 3107.
