Abstract:
PURPOSE: To impart high toughness and ductility to the surface layer part of a structural member and to almost inhibit the cracking of the surface layer part and the exfoliation of the part from the base part by forming the base part with a Ti alloy and the surface layer part integrated with the base part made of a TiAl intermetallic compd. having oxidation resistance at high temp.
CONSTITUTION: The compsn. of a TiAl intermetallic compd. forming the surface layer part 3 of a structural member integrated with the base part 2 is composed of 60-75 atomic % Al, 5-15 atomic % Mn and the balance Ti.
