PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a graphite electrode connection part for an electric steel furnace capable of improving effective strength of the bottom part of a socket screw of the electrode connection part to the extent equivalent to that of an electrode connection part by a long nipple specification, needing a time and a task required for connection work equivalent to those of a conventional one, having little probability of damaging a nipple tip projected downward, and capable of overcoming deterioration in electrode consumption source unit.
SOLUTION: In the graphite electrodes for an electric steel furnace used by connecting the electrodes through sockets formed on both ends of the electrode and the nipples screwed to the sockets, this structure is of a type of the connection parts of an upper electrode positioned on the upper side and a lower electrode positioned on the lower side in a state used in the furnace. When it is assumed that the total length of the nipples for connecting both the electrodes, the length of the nipple screwed to the socket formed at the lower end of the upper electrode, the length of the nipple screwed to the socket formed at the upper end of the lower electrode, the maximum diameter of the nipples, and the total length of the nipples specified in a JIS standard (JIS R7201) are L, L1, L2 (L1+L2=L), D and S, the structure satisfies a relationship of L2<L1≤L2×1.2 and S/4≤L2≤D.
