To provide the subject structure sufficiently developing the atmosphere purifying function due to a photocatalyst and stably obtaining this function over a long period of time without being affected by a use environmental condition such as high humidity environment or the durability of the structure itself supporting the photocatalyst.
A large number of granules 2 wherein a powdery photocatalyst is bonded to the surface of a granular carrier material are charged in the space of a hollow structure 1 formed from a metal member and having openings 5 permitting the atmosphere and light to pass. The mean particle size of the granules 2 is pref. 2-50 mm. For example, the hollow structure 1 is a structural body consisting of cylindrical bodies 3 packed with the granules 2 and opened at both end parts thereof and the surface bodies 4 fixed to both end parts of the cylindrical bodies 3 and provided with the openings 5 internally communicating with the cylindrical bodies 3 and the cylindrical bodies 3 and the surface bodies 4 are formed of aluminum, an aluminum alloy or stainless steel.
