Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To join hollow shape materials with each other regardless of dimensional accuracy, by conducting friction-agitation joint from the outside of the hollow shape material at an joined and overlapped portion of one hollow shape material where one end of the connecting material and one face plate and one end of an connecting material, or by providing a portion where one end of the connecting material and one face plate of the hollow shape material are joined with each others not by the friction-agitation joint but by arc-welding.
SOLUTION: A clearance of an abutting portion of a face plates 12b, 22b is buried and joined by friction-agitation joint. Next, a connecting material 30 and seats 17, 27 are joined with each other by using a friction-agitation joint device that is used for the friction-agitation joint of the abutting portion of the face plates 12b, 22b. With inserting a rotary tool from above into an overlapped portion of the connecting material 30 and the seat 27, the rotary tool is moved along the join line to join them by friction-agitation joint. In the case, the joint by the connecting material 30 is carried out by not the abutting-joint but overlap-joint. Therefore, the hollow shape members 10, 20 are joined with each other by the connecting material 30, even if a clearance between the hollow shape materials 10, 20 is changed caused by the manufacturing common difference of the hollow shape materials 10, 20 and the common difference in spacing for arranging the hollow shape members 10, 20.
