To intensively detect various physical quantities of multiple members in lumps and to save labor for maintenance by providing optical fiber sensors installed on multiple members, and detecting the physical quantities of the members and a centralized detecting system.
Each of optical fiber sensors installed on plural members 18 for detecting the physical quantities of the members 18 is constituted of a sensor portion 20, a light-projecting optical fiber 22, a light-receiving optical fiber 24, a light-projecting device 26, a light-receiving device 28 and a filter 30. A processing device 32 constituting a centralized detecting system compares the physical quantities detected by the optical fiber sensor with prescribed limiting values and transmits information, when the detected physical quantities exceed the prescribed limiting values. A control signal transmitting device 40 receives information from the processing device 32 and transmits a control signal, and a control device 42 controls the members 18 to reduce the physical quantities of the members 18 than the prescribed limiting values after receiving the signal. Since optical fibers are available at a low cost, the cost for even a large structure can be suppressed low.
