Abstract:

PURPOSE: To attain a good antidive effect without any substantial design change or any addition of a material by relatively displacing a support point between a strut and a carrier in a vehicle rear direction as well as in an upward direction, according to a wheel bound.

CONSTITUTION: Joints 42 and 44 determine the first axial line 52 as a support axial line between a link 38 and an intermediate link 50, and joints 46 and 48 determine the second axial line 54 as a support axial line between a link 40 and an intermediate link 50. Also, joints 24 and 26 determine the third axial line 56. A joint 36 is positioned outboard of the first axial line 52, and the first axial line 52 is positioned outboard of the second axial line 54. Also, the first axial line 52 is inclined forward below a horizontal level, and relative with the second axial line 54. According to the bound and rebound of a wheel, a ball joint 36 draws a movement locus sloped in a rear direction as shown by a sign 58. As a result, the slope of a straight line 64 between an instantane ous center O and the ground point P of the wheel becomes large, thereby improv ing an antidive effect.
