PURPOSE: To obtain a resin composition excellent in heat resistance, release properties and flame retardancy and suitable for a material for appliances by blending a bromine-based flame retardant, an antimony oxide, a specified compound and an organotin compound with a styrene-based resin.
CONSTITUTION: This resin composition is composed of (A) 100 pts.wt. styrenic resin (e.g. polystyrene), (B) 5 to 40 pts.wt. bromine-based flame retardant (e.g. decabromodiphenyl ether), (C) 1 to 15 pts.wt. antimony oxide (e.g. antimony trioxide), (D) 0.05 to 1 pt.wt. organotin compound (e.g. monobutyltin trilaurate) and (E) 0.01 to 0.5 pt.wt. unsaturated dicarboxylic acid monoester compound (e.g. maleic acid monoethyl ester) of formula I or II [R1 and R2 are each an alkyl, an alkenyl, etc.; (n) is 1 or 2]. This composition is preferably pelleted by using a pelletizer after blending the above-mentioned respective components.
