Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce a resin compsn. excellent in flame retardance and resistance to heat, impact, and weather and suitable as the material of an electrical part, etc. CONSTITUTION:The resin compsn. comprises 100 pts.wt. compsn. consisting of 10-50wt.% styrenic copolymer made from a monomer mixture at least contg. a styrenic compd. and an imide compd. derived from an alpha,beta-unsatd. dicarboxylic acid and 90-50wt.% graft copolymer obtd. by grafting styrene and acrylonitrile or methyl methacrylate onto a rubber component, 0.5-10 pts.wt. antimony oxide, 5.0-40 pts.wt. brominated epoxy compd. having a bromine content of 5.0-56wt.%, 0.1-3.0 pts.wt. silicone oil, and 0.1-3.0 pts.wt. benzotriazole ultraviolet absorber melting at 100 deg.C or higher. The ratio of the amt. of the styrenic compd. to that of the imide compd. in the monomer mixture is 95/5-50/50, and the content of the rubber component in the graft copolymer is 5-35wt.%. The graft copolymer, the epoxy compd., and the ultraviolet absorber are premixed and thermally treated in a nitrogen atmosphere at 100-200 deg.C.
