Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a bone substitute made from non-foaming glass ionomer cement and capable of mechanically processing by using conventional grinding machine or milling machine. CONSTITUTION: Glass ionomer cement is available as a mixture of glass and polymerized polyacid on one hand and a mixture of glass and water another hand, either of which is applied to optionally mix with chelate forming agent. The polymerized polyacid is dissolved in water in which it is mixed with optional chelate forming agent. This solution is as well possible to mix with the glass. Next powder of silicon fluoride acid almninum calcium glass consisting of Si, Al, Ca, F, Na and P is mixed with a solution consisting of copolymer of acrylic acid and maleic acid, tartaric acid and water. Structure of the bone can be obtained through the resultant paste like material manually.
