PURPOSE: To obtain a new substited 4,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole-3-(thi)ones having superior activity as herbicide to the compd. in the past technology.
CONSTITUTION: These are compds. represented by formula I (R1 is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, hydroxyalkyl, aryloxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, aralkyl, arylalkenyl, aroyl, aryl, etc.; R2 to R5 are each H, an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, halogenoalkyl, cyanoalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, etc., or in case R2 and R3 or R4 and R5 together form alkanediyl, R5 is an alkoxy; X and Y are O or S), e.g. 2-{1-methyl-3-(3-chlorophenyl)propyl- amino-carbonyl}-4-amino-5-dimethylamino-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one. The compd. is obtd. by allowing a compd. represented by formula II to react with an iso(thio)cyanate represented by formula III.
