To obtain a substituted benzene compound that ameliorates lipid metabolism abnormality by modulating action of liver X receptors (LXR) and exhibits excellent anti-arteriosclerotic action and antiinflammation action by controlling formation of inflammation mediator or its pharmaceutically permissible salt or ester and is useful as an LXR modulator.
The compound is represented by the general formula [R1 is COR9 (R9 is an alkyl, an alkoxy which may be substituted, an amino which may be substituted or the like), an aryl which may be substituted or the like; R2 is H, OH, an alkoxy or the like; R3 is H, an alkyl which may be substituted, an alkenyl, an alkoxy which may be substituted or the like; R4 and R5 are each H, an alkyl which may be substituted, a halogeno or the like; R6 and R7 are each H, an alkyl or the like; R8 is an N(R10)ZR11, a ZN(R10)R12, an X2N(R10)ZR11 or the like; (R10 is H, an alkyl which may be substituted or the like; R11 is H, an alkyl which may be substituted, a cycloalkyl which may be substituted, an alkenyl which may be substituted, an alkoxy which may be substituted, an amino which may be substituted, a phenyl which may be substituted or the like; R12 is H, an alkyl which may be substituted, an alkenyl which may be substituted or the like; X2 is an alkylene; Z is CO, CS or SO2); X1 is a single bond or a methylene which may be substituted; Y is a phenyl which may be substituted or a heterocyclyl which may be substituted].
