PURPOSE: To obtain new compounds usable for treatment of disturbances in cardiac rhythm and prevention of sudden cardiac death caused by arrhythmia, and particularly suitable for treatment and prevention of diseases, in which arrhythmia is caused from a narrowing of a coronary vessel, such as angina pectoris or acute cardiac infarction.
CONSTITUTION: The compound, e.g. 2-methoxy-5 -chloro-N-[5-{1-sulfonylamino -N-(methylaminocarbonyl)-2-methoxyphenyl} -ethyl]-benzamide is expressed by formula I [R(1) is H, CH3, CH2F, CHF2 or CF3; R(2) is H, a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-6C alkoxy, a 1-6C mercaptoalkyl, a 1-6C fluoroalkoxy or a 1-6C fluoroalkyl; E is O or S; Y is {CR(3)2}n {R(3) is H or a 1-2C alkyl; (n) is 1-4}; X is H, a halogen or a 1-6C alkyl; Z is a halogen, NO2, a 1-4C alkoxy or a 1-4C alkyl]. A compound of the formula I in which R(1) is not H and E is O is obtained by reacting an aromatic sulfonamide of formula II or its salt with a substituted isocyanate of formula III.
