To obtain a new compound hardly having phytotoxicity, exhibiting excellent herbicidal effect and useful as an agrochemical, especially a herbicide.
This compound is represented by formula I {R1 and R2 are each a lower alkyl, a cycloalkyl or the like, or R1 and R2 form a hetero-5- membered ring which may be substituted with a lower alkyl together with binding nitrogen atom; X is a group of formula II [Z is H, a lower alkyl or the like; (m) is 1-5] or the like; Y is a divalent group of formula II or the like}, e.g. 1-(N,N-diethylcarbamoyl)-3-(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)-1,2,4-triazole. The compound of the formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula IV [e.g. 3-(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)-1,2,4-triazole] with a compound of formula V (Q is a halogen) (e.g. diethylcarbamoyl chloride), in the presence of an acid binding agent such as pyridine, preferably at a temp. of -10 to 100°C.
