PURPOSE: To obtain a furoxane shown by a specific formula, and useful for prevention or prophylaxis of cardiovascular diseases and treating impotentia erigendi.
CONSTITUTION: This new compound, a substituted furoxane, is shown by formula I [R1 and R2 are such that one of them is S(O)n-R3, the other being a 1-10C alkyl, 3-7C cycloalkyl, CONR4R5, CN or XR6 ((n) is 0, 1 or 2; R3 is a 1-10C alkyl, hydroxyl-10C alkyl or the like; R4 and R5 are each H or the same as R3; R6 is the same as R3)], e.g. N-isopropyl-3-phenylmercapto-furoxane-4- carbonamide. This compound is obtained, preferably, for example, by oxidizing a compound of formula II with an oxidizing agent such as N2O4 in e.g. an alcohol at -5 to 25°C and then further oxidizing the intermediate product with a 2nd oxidizing agent such as m-chloroperbenzoic acid in acetone at 20-30°C.
