Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: A compound of formula I [R is H, ester or cation; R1 is formula II or III (R2 is H, halogen, 1-6C alkyl; A is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, etc.; B is cycloalkyl, halogen, cyano, alkoxy, etc.), etc.].

EXAMPLE: N-[2-[3-(4-fluoroshenyl)-1,5-diisopropyl-2-phenylpyrol-4-yl]ethyl] hydroxylamine.

USE: 3-Hydroxy-3-methyl-gultaryl coenzyme Ainhibitor and cholesterol biosynthesis inhibitor. Useful for treatment of hyperproteinemia and atherosclerosis.

PROCESS: A compound of formula I is obtained by allowing a hydroxylamine of formula of R1-CH2CH2-NH to react with an epoxide of formula IV (R7 is 1-6C alkyl) in an alcohol solvent at 0 to 150°C.
