Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:Substituted phenylhydrazones of methyl ethyl ketone of formula I (X is halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy).
EXAMPLE: 2-Chloro-4-nitrophenylhydrazone of Methyl etnyl ketone.
USE: Antimicrobial: they show high antimicrobial activity against rice blast disease, cucumber's powdery mildew, downy mildew and other microorganisms causing plant diseases and develop no side effects on the crops.
PREPARATION: The reaction of a substituted phenylhydrazine of formula II with methyl ethyl ketone is effected in an aqueous ethanol under an acidic or alkaline condition, or in benzene under reflux to cause dehydration or in diglyme under reflux with heat.
