NEW MATERIAL: A compound represented by formula I [wherein R is an alkyl, a cycloalkyl or the like; A is formula II (wherein X is H, an alkyl, CF3, an alkoxyl or the like), formula III (wherein one of Y1 and Y2 is a halogen, methyl or phenoxy, and the other is H), formula IV (wherein at least two of Z1 to Z3, which are independent of each other, are each a halogen or methyl, and the third is H), formula V (wherein Q is Cl or is H when R is other than methyl) (provided that 1-methyl-3-thiobenzoylthiourea and 1-n-butyl-3- thiobenzoylthiourea are excluded).

EXAMPLE: 1-Methyl-3-(4-chlorothiobenzoyl)thiourea.

USE: An agent for pest control.

PREPARATION: For example, a compound of formula VI is reacted with a compound of formula VII to obtain a compound of the formula I.
