Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain such a resin substrate for a liquid crystal cell where water or oxygen hardly intrude into the liquid crystal cell and problems such as breaking of a transparent conductive film pattern or production of bubbles are hardly caused.
CONSTITUTION: This substrate 1 for a liquid crystal cell has at least a plate layer 11 comprising a resin having ≥130°C glass transition temp. The substrate has <5cc.mm/m2.24 hours atm permeability coefft. for oxygen, <30g/m2.24 hours moisture permeability, ≥80% transmittance for light, and 0.3-1mm thickness. Thereby, a substrate excellent in moisture resistance, gas barrier property, heat resistance, shock resistance, and light in weight is obtd. and a liquid crystal cell excellent in the life and reliability can be produced. Thus, a liquid crystal display device of a large screen size with about 60% reduction of weight compared to a conventional cell using glass substrates can be obtd. while almost equal picture qualities to those of a conventional cell can be obtd.
