Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability of changing-over of a by allowing a valve driving means to select one of the cam mating parts, which mate individually with cam profile surfaces of a plurality of cams on the basis of the operating condition of the internal combustion engine concerned, and putting it in contact with the mating cam profile surface. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of cams M3 having mutually different cam profiles constituting a valve operating cam M1 are installed arranged in the axial direction of a cam shaft, and is rotated in a single piece with the cam shaft. A cam selecting part a M5 of a valve driving means M2 selects one of the cam mating parts M4 on the basis of the operating condition of the internal combustion engine concerned, and the selected cam mating part M4 is moved by a cam contacting part M6 toward the can shaft so as to come in contact with the cam profile surface of the rotating cam M3 mating with this cam mating part M4. Thereby the cam M3 used is changed over, and the drive timing lift amount etc. of suction and exhaust valve is controlled with the profile of this cam concerned.
