Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the medically useful subject derivative contg. specified, functionalized sugar units and having antithrombotic activity and an activity of inhibiting smooth muscle cell proliferation, which is produced by a shortened and simplified synthesis path.
CONSTITUTION: Sulfated glycosaminoglycanoid derivatives or medically accepted salts thereof, wherein functional N-sulfate, N-acetate and hydroxyl groups are replaced by alkoxyl, aryloxy, aralkoxyl, o-sulfato or OALK(OALK)nOX group (wherein ALK is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group; n is 0 to 5; and X is alkyl or aryl), provided that at least two functional groups are not replaced by o- sulfato. The derivatives include those having disaccharide units of the formula (wherein the broken lines are α-bond or β-bond; R is alkyl, aryl or the like; and Q is carboxylate or CH2OR).
