To obtain the subject new amphipathic compound useful as a biodegradable surfactant or as an intermediate for synthesizing glycolipid-based biosurfactants.
This new compound is a compound of formula I [(n) is 1-3; R6 to R9 are each H, an acyl or silyl; Y is benzyloxy, nitrophenoxy, or the like]. The compound of formula I is obtained by introducing R3 onto the 6'-position of a compound of formula II (R1 is an acyl; R2 and R5 are each an acyl or silyl) with the substituent at the 3'-position being R5 or H followed by subjecting the resultant compound to esterification, selective deprotection, and sulfuric ester group introduction successively in this order. The compound of formula I is specifically bindable to L-secretin, therefore being usable as an anti-inflammatory agent.
