Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a sulfurized overbased product useful for use in lubricants, functional fluids and normally liq. fuels as extreme pressure(EP) reagents and/or anti-wear agents or antioxidants.

CONSTITUTION: This composition is a composition contg. at least one kind sulfurized overbased product made by contacting (A) at least one overbased product or (A') at least one boron-contg. overbased product and (B) one sulfurized overbased product obtained by contacting with sulfur and/or at least one source of sulfur. The overbased product (A) and the boron-contg. overbased product (A') are made by using (A)(I) at least one material capable of being overbased and (A)(V) at least one acidic material, with the proviso that when, the acidic material is other than SO2 or a source of SO2, the overbased product (A) and the boron-contg. overbased product (A') are contacted with an effective amount of SO2 or a source of SO2.
