To obtain a sunshine selectively absorbing heat-retaining yarn without causing damage on rollers, guides, etc., in yarn production, yarn processing and weaving and knitting while possessing higher heat retaining properties than those of conventional heat-retaining materials.
This sunshine selectively absorbing heat retaining yarn excellent in wear resistance is a composite yarn having a fiber section comprising projected parts and unprojected parts. The unprojected parts 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 are composed of a mixture of fine powder of a carbide of a transition metal belonging to the group IV of the periodic table and a thermoplastic synthetic polymer. The projected parts 2, 4, 7, 10 and 13 are constituted of a thermoplastic synthetic polymer containing no fine powder. Parts 16, 17 and 18 of the unprojected parts are exposed to the surface of the yarn.
