PURPOSE: To search for the supercharged condition in an engine with a pressure wave supercharger easily and acurately by simulation, and simply design the engine with a pressure wave supercharger by utilizing this method.
CONSTITUTION: The intake system, combustion chambers, the exhaust system of an engine with a pressure wave supercharger are modelled as combination of sub-models, and the quantities of state such as pressure concerning these sub-models are computingly processed, meanwhile, the quantity of state of a pressure wave supercharger model 31 which is provided with cell equivalent pipes 33, respective port equivalent parts 35-38, and variable apertures 41A--41D provided between them, and the variable apertures are opened/closed according to the actual operation of the pressure wave super charger is computingly processed, and these computation processes are repeated under the same operating condition while mutually reflecting the computed results, so as to search for the pressure condition on the intake air discharge side of the pressure wave supercharger.
