To achieve a structure capable of dispensing with a large-sized power supply as the driving source of a motor in a superconducting motor device and an electric vehicle.
The superconducting motor device 24 has a superconducting motor 26, and a switching control unit 48. The superconducting motor 26 has a superconducting armature coil 66 mounted in a rotor 54, and a superconducting field coil 50 mounted in a stator 52. The switching control unit 48 can perform energy transfer between the superconducting field coil 50 and the superconducting armature coil 66 in response to an input signal. Further, the switching control unit 48 switches a superconducting-motor operating state in which the supercinducting motor 26 can be operated and regenerated and an energy retaining state in which a feed of energy can be shut down between the superconducting armature coil 66 and the superconducting field coil 50, and at the same time in which energy can be retained in an superconducting state in the superconducting field coil 50.
