Abstract:

To support with rolling bearings, the radial load during the normal operation by supporting both ends of a rotary shaft fixed with a rotor including an annular flywheel ring and fitting each bearing on the periphery, and supporting each bearing with a casing through a damper device provided with an elastic body.

In normal operation, the thrust load by the weight of a rotor 60 including a flywheel ring 1 is supported by a superconductive thrust bearing 50, and the rotor 60 is rotated in the floating condition. The radial load is elastically supported by upper and lower bearing devices 41, 42 as elastic support bearings. The upper and the lower bearing devices 41, 42 are composed of radial bearings 30, 36, damper sleeves 31, 37 provided outside of the radial bearings, and viscous fluid chambers 33, 39. In case of operation failure in the superconductive thrust bearing, a stopper part 35 is brought into contact with the upper radial bearing 30 so as to support it in the touchdown condition, and the impact at this stage is absorbed by the damper means.
