PURPOSE: To obtain a superconductor adaptable to various uses because of many kinds of blocking layers by forming superconducting layers of a specified multiple oxide of copper and blocking layers of a specified copper compd. in a layered state.

CONSTITUTION: A large number of layers of an oxide represented by the formula (CaαSr1-α)β CuOγ (where 0≤α≤1.0, 0.8≤β≤1.1 and 1.8-hγ≤2.2) and layers of a copper compd. such as La2-x-SrxCuO4 are laminated on a substrate by a piling method to obtain the objective superconductor. The copper compd. has 0.37-0.39nm interval between cations in at least one crystal face of a crystal unit lattice or ±3% difference between the crystallographic a-axis length of the oxide layers and the interval between such cations in the crystal structure.
