To provide a support for a lithographic printing plate made of an aluminum alloy plate as a base of an original plate for the lithographic printing plate having excellent plate wear resistance and severe ink stain resistance.

The support for the lithographic printing plate is obtained by roughing and anodizing the aluminum alloy plate containing Fe of 0.2 to 0.5 mass %, Si of 0.04 to 0.20 mass %, Cu of 0.005 to 0.040 mass %, Ti of 0.010 to 0.040 mass % and Mg of 0.002 to 0.020 mass %. In this case, its mean surface roughness Ra is 0.2 to 2.0 μM. Then, an Si content (Si), a Cu content (Cu) and the mean surface roughness Ra of the support satisfy the following experimental formula (1) of -2(Cu)+0.14-Ra/10≤(Si)≤-(Cu)+0.22-Ra/10.
