PURPOSE: To enhance catalytic capacity by more increasing adsorbing sites, that is, active points by allowing metal particles to collide with a carbon carrier in a form of ionic atoms or in a form of atomic particles constituted of some atoms to absorb and support them on the carrier.
CONSTITUTION: Platinum plasma is generated by an ion injection device to be taken out in the form of atomic platinum ions 1 and, for example, the platinum ions 1 are injected into the carbon support atoms 2 of the surface layer part of acetylene black used as a carbon carrier along ion streams 3 by acceleration voltage 100 kV. Thereafter, the atomic platinum ions 1 collide with the carbon carrier to be adsorbed thereon and a part of the atoms 2 of the carbon carrier surface layer is liberated and the liberated carbon atoms 2-1 scatter in a liberated carbon scattering direction 4. As a result, the number of active points generating catalytic activity is maximized and the number of adsorbing sites can be increased.
