To solve the problem that a display image is dark, in a surface emitting video display device formed by combining a surface emitting video screen and an external light reflection preventing plate having triangle-shaped sectional protrusions with light shielding films.

The external light reflection preventing plate (20) is provided along the front face on the observer side of a light emitting video forming screen (30) constituted of innumerable light emitting dots (31). The external light reflection preventing plate (20) is a light shielding plate having a number of triangle-shaped sectional fine protrusions (21) extending in a direction parallel to the horizontal direction and a light shielding layer (22) on the upper side surface of each fine protrusion (21). Each light emitting dot is disposed so that out going light (Z) of the light emitting dot is emitted toward an obliquely lower side with a fixed angle (θ) of inclination to the optical axis (O-O) of the light shielding plate (20) to be made incident on the back surface of the light shielding plate (20).
