PURPOSE: To provide a surface light emitter with equal emission brightness both faces and uniform brightness on both faces by embedding irregular reflection parts in a light guide plate so as to reflect incident light irregularly by the irregular reflection parts to emit the light from both faces of the light guide plate.

CONSTITUTION: In the surface light emitter, light incoming from the end face 29 of a light guide plate 31 is irregularly reflected by irregular reflection parts 36 and emitted from both faces 32a, 33a of the light guide plate 31. The irregular reflection parts 36 are embedded in the light guide plate 31, and the irregular reflection parts 36 act equally to the light emitting faces 32a, 33a on both sides. Since there is no air layer interposed around the irregular reflection parts 36, there is no loss of irregularly reflected light to either of the light emitting faces 32a, 33a on both sides. Since the irregular reflection parts 36 are thus embedded, no void exists between either of the light guide parts 32, 33 and the irregular reflection parts 36. The irregular reflection parts 36 can thereby act equally to both light emitting faces 32a, 33a, so that brightness becomes equal while having little loss, that results in heightening brightness.
