To make the reduction of the treating cost of paulownia wood possible through the improvement of its productivity under the state that the surface hardness of the paulownia wood and the aesthetic drape of its surface are improved by a method wherein brushing is applied to the direction of wood grain of the surface of the paulownia wood for furniture before painting by pressing a motorized rotary brush against its surface.

Brushing is applied with metal hair-like bodies in the direction of the wood grain of the surface of a square paulownia wood 1 for furniture by turning a rotary brush 22 connected to a motor 21 with a reducer of a motorized rotary brush 2, which is rotatingly driven under pressure, so as to execute the burring work of the surface of the paulownia wood 1 for furniture, resulting in compressionally deforming the surface layer of the paulownia wood 1. for furniture and improve its surface hardness and the aesthetic drape of its surface. Due to the improved surface hardness of the paulownia wood, this paulownia wood is provided as an easily handleable and low cost new material for furniture for general furniture, for which no paulownia wood has been utilized, resulting in developing the new use of paulownia wood.
