PURPOSE: To obtain the subject treating solution comprising a specific copolymer emulsion and an aqueous solution of a polyvinyl alcohol, capable of providing a polyvinyl alcohol film with excellent transparency, blocking resistance, wear resistance, heat-sealing strength and adhesion strength.
CONSTITUTION: This surface treating solution for a polyvinyl alcohol-based film comprises (A) an emulsion of a copolymer of methyl methacrylate (M1) and styrene (M2) (e.g. a copolymer of 40-99wt.% of M1 and 1-60wt.% of M2) obtained by using a polyvinyl alcohol containing a mercapto group at the end (e.g. one having 70-99.99mol% degree of polymerization) as a stabilizer, having 0.02-1μm average particle diameter and (B) an aqueous solution of a polyvinyl alcohol.
