To economically attain a high smoothness equal to a powder coating by an existing solvent coating by subjecting a base of an aluminum wheel to a shot blasting to obtain a prescribed surface roughness, pretreating the body with a chromate, then forming a primer layer and a base coat layer in order and forming a top coat layer thereon.
At first, the shot blasting treatment is executed on the base 1 of the aluminum wheel. The body is treated at the first shot blasting stage to the surface roughness of ≤RZ45μ and treated at the second shot blasting stage to the surface roughness of RZ25-40μ. Then the pretreatment of the coating is executed by the chromate treatment, then the primer layer 2 of a thick solvent coating material such as polyester resin based material or acrylic resin based material is formed, then the primer layer is baked and dried in a furnace. Then the base coat layer 3 is formed with a colored solvent coating material such as acrylic resin based material on the primer layer 2 and baked and dried in the furnace. Then the top coat layer 4 by a clear solvent coating is formed and baked and dried to complete a surface treatment.
