PURPOSE: To impart improved weather resistance and scratch resistance with good adhesion to the surface of the titled resin molding, by forming a specified primer coat on the surface of the molding, then applying a top coating based on colloidal silica-filler organopolysiloxane and heat-setting the top coat.
CONSTITUTION: Improved weather resistance and scratch resistance are imparted to the surface of a polycarbonate resin molding by coating the surface of the molding with a primer composition comprising (A) a copolymer comprising 100pts.wt. methyl methacrylate and 3W9pts.wt. 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate, viscosity-average polymerization degree of 500W10,000, (B) an ultraviolet ray absorber, and (C) an organic solvent, wherein 1W7pts.wt. copolymer A and 0.5W7pts.wt. absorber B are present per 100pts.wt. total of the components, then drying the coated composition to form a primer layer, and further coating the primer layer with a top coating based on colloidal silica-filled organopolysiloxane, and heat- setting the top coating.
