Title:
SURFACTANT COMPOSITION FOR EMULSION POLYMERIZATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3429705
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition which can improve the stability of a polymer emulsion during its polymerization and further improve the mechanical stability and chemical stability of a produced vinyl polymer emulsion, by including a specific compound as an essential component.
SOLUTION: This surfactant composition for emulsion polymerization contains a compound of the formula: RCH2O-(EO)n-H [R is alkyls each of which contains three or more methyl groups on the average and further contains 10C alkyl groups in an amount of ≥70 wt.%; EO is oxyethylene; (n) is 15 to 60 which is the average addition mole number of the oxyalkylene groups] as an essential component. The compound is preferably obtained by addition-reacting ethylene oxide to alcohols which are produced by subjecting olefins obtained by the oligomerization of propylene with butene to an oxo reaction and contain 11C alcohols in an amount of ≥70 wt.%.
