Abstract:
PURPOSE: To minimize explosion of casing of a surge arrester by expanding an electric arc generated and reaching a diaphragm when internal destruction is caused. CONSTITUTION: At a top part of a surge arrester 1, there is provided with a part 25 having a path 27 for discharging high-temperature gas when an excessive pressure is generated in an internal chamber 5 in a casing 3, this part 25 is sealed by a cover 19 for closing the casing 3, and a diaphragm 29 is mounded on a surface of the cover 19. At this point, the diaphragm 29 is prepared in an ordinary metal thin layer and is exploded when it is subjected to excessive pressure generated by the shock wave and gas of a current generated in the internal chamber 5 when an inside of the arrester 1 is destroyed. The arrester 1 is provided with a nozzle 31 for discharging the high-temperature gas closed in the cover 19, the high-temperature gas is ejected toward an explosion blot 33 secured with an electrode 9, and gas is penetrated through the diaphragm 29 and discharged through a path 27. When the bolt 33 is exploded, the arrester 1 is released from the ground by an interrupter.
