Title:
SURGE CURRENT DETECTING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2011220804
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a surge current detecting device capable of detecting surely an occurrence of a surge current, consuming no power, reducing an installation space, and being low in cost.

When a surge current i1, such as a thunder current, flows through a conductor 2, a magnetic field B is generated around the conductor 2. An induction current i2 flows on a metal foil 1, and Lorentz forces F1 and F2 are generated. The Lorentz force F1 is greater than the Lorentz force F2, and therefore a force F is generated on the metal foil 1 in a direction in which the metal foil 1 separates from the conductor 2. As a result, when the surge current i1 flows through the conductor 2, the metal foil 1 separates from the conductor 2, and by this phenomenon the surge current can be detected.
