Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a surge protecting system provided with an electric communication device and an environment seal especially appropriated for use. CONSTITUTION: A surge protecting device is not conductive in normal operation, and becomes conductive in response to the generation of a surge condition at a first level, and the device generates a shortcircuit in response to the exposure with surge at a level higher than a second level. This protecting device includes a semi-conductor chip 16 attached between a first electrode 32 and a second electrode 30, and the protecting device is provided with an environment seal 60, which is shrunken so as to contact with the peripheral surface of the electrode.
