PURPOSE: To give an elastic constant converting function to a suspension device using a suspension spring and an FRP(fibe reinforced plastic) arm.
CONSTITUTION: An FRP arm 11 has the car body side end 12 and the axle side end 13, and can be bent elastically in the up and down direction. The car body side end 12 of the FRP arm 11 is fixed to a member 32 at the car body side through a bracket 30. To the axle side end 13, an axle 16 is provided through a spring eye member 15. Between the middle part 25 of the FRP arm 11 in the longitudinal direction and the member 32 at the car body side, an intermediate holding mechanism 35 is provided. The intermediate holding mechanism 35 has an actuator 36, and it is used to confine the middle part 25 of the FRP arm 11 in the longitudinal direction when a rod 41 is extended, and to release the confinement when the rod 41 is contracted.
